A journalist FINALLY gets tough

There are so few examples of journalists being tenacious with politicians and other people in positions to ask the tough questions to protect the interest of it's citizens.

The  Irish journalist Vincent Browne is tenacious and shrewd.  He  was able to avoid the tactic of microphone change once his question was asked.  The problem is there should be an army of journalists asking tough questions.  But of course, I see so rare an occasion of tough journalism, that over the years I have only a handful of examples.

Vincent Browne has a hard hitting show on TV3, well worth a watch.

I have posted how the Irish government sold it's citizens into decades of debt slaves, when smarter countries, like Iceland avoided that fate.

A great video to watch, how the law is continually perverted by governments extending payments to un-guaranteed gambling (investing?) debts at the cost of the citizens.

Vincent Browne, thank you for doing your job.

Brutal Truth of the source of the World Financial Crisis

Since paying attention to the financial disaster in the making since August 2006, this has to be the best video by far to speak clearly and specifically at the root of the financial cancer the western world faces today.

Simple put, enforce laws, and change behavior that brings failure.
Best 8 minutes on the source of the world ongoing financial crisis.

Until we as a society correct our behavior, the situation will continue to degrade.

I have added this to my Financial Ground Zero series, for this video encompass the overall problem the US faces.

Where should your money be?

I am not going to endorse or reject this video.  I think it is worth readers to watch, and give thought to the content.  At the very least, it was interesting to see how they used  the movie It's a Wonderful Life to make their point.

At the end, it refers you to the web site Move Your Money for more information.

As food for thought, check out youtube and surf, I found this one, all interesting.

James LeGrand, Author of Evolve

James Legrand is a former coworker at my previous company, Navisys.
James is one of the most positive individuals I have had the pleasure to work with. James is also author of a book called Evolve!

James is also concerned about the Economic shift ahead. I have already stated I favor natural resource investments, preparing personal resources, and yes, own a gun. While I am not ready for calling mad max, but being prepared is a good thing.

James favors gold/silver for reasons slightly different than mine. I am not concerned of USD collapse in the next few years. But I do like gold/silver increasing as China and India rise with wealth, and the 2.5 billion people in that country buy more precious metals.

Other than that one point, everything else James talks about I completely agree with, be prepared.

Fundamental Global Currency Sickness

Jim Grant does a great job of explaining the crux of the global currency sickness, and that is the US government has sole control of money creation, as the world reserve currency. There is no check and balance in the system. The video is a great view of the currency problems, and debt problems, with ONE exception. I completely disagree with a gold standard.
I am starting to get concerned that these gold bugs will be heard in the global fiat crisis ahead. A gold standard will produce worse economic issues than the current system over time.

I'll create a post directly attacking the gold standard later. You can get a glimpse by reading my series starting with "What is money".

Jim Grant Interview was mid July, notice he was right about pushing out dealing with the US debt crisis.

US Debt - IOU USA

In honor of the current US debt crisis, were I believe nothing of substance will be resolved, I bring back IOU USA, the 30 minute version.

If you haven't seen the movie, watch it. The movie focuses on the US comptroller David Walker for over 10 years and presents views from his perspective. If anyone should fully understand the situation, it is him.

For those who think US debt to GDP ratio is endless, watch this 30 minute movie, I.O.U. USA.

For information about full movie and it's web site, click here.

Jim Rogers

I listened to this interview on Financial Sense News Hour yesterday, it was pretty good and inline with most of my views.

You can listen to the podcast by clicking the link above, or listen using this youtube version.

And although Mr. Rogers is has a poor view for the USD, he is bullish for now, as I am.

Former Reagan assistant Treasury Secretary Paul Craig Roberts

Max Kaiser tends to be a bit flamboyant, and over-the-top with his comments.

But it is interesting to hear Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, former assistant US treasury secretary under Reagan talk.

SNL skit on Europe woes

I found this skit pretty funny, covering problems of Ireland, Greece, Spain, Portugal, and the IMF chief caught trying to rape a cleaning girl at the hotel.

Last Saturday had Justin Timberlake, who I find very funny on SNL, couple of skits I liked can be found here and here.

I have no idea who Jim Willie is, but his passion and opinions are somewhat in-line with mine.
A good listen.

Niall Ferguson

I have posted videos from Niall Ferguson before. This is yet another video where he talks about the western economies, and the cracks appearing.

Young Video Blogger I agree with

USD is here to stay.....in the near term. I'll revise judgement around 1015 if by then I think USD is in danger.

Otherwise resources will continue to go up, as USA purchasing power is reduced over time.

Zeitgeist - Moving Forward

Again, grain of salt, the value I have in this type of stuff is makes you think, not saying I agree with all the conclusions or content.

Austrian Economic view

Great videos I ran across when looking at the people who made the cleaver video about Ben Bernanke/Keysian economics vs Austrian. If you have seen it, SKIP the first video below.
If you haven't seen it, watch it, it will help keep attention to the economists interviews.

All videos are good, they do a good job trying to keep a dry topic interesting.

Keynsian view, GREAT video to understand the "religion" of Ben Bernanke

In honor of Stock Crack Addicts

Ben Bernanke and Charlie sheen seem amazingly similar to me.
Both talk with a core religious belief in what they say.

Talking about drugs and prostitutes in some sort of way to twist your a winner, and Mr. Bernanke taking credit for (artificially) inflating asset markets while ignoring natural resource prices is brazen.

I really find this Charlie sheen video funny. Nothing to do with investing, just fun, enjoy.

Chinese Inflation and growth

Mish has quite a few good posts on China, his most recent is titled "Bloodstained Property Map and Trampled Rights; China's Population: 1.3 Billion; Construction Underway: 43 Billion Square Feet"
I recommend reading it and the links he provides.

I ran across a video from a news agency outside the US of some basic discussions of Chinese economy. China had apparently a 4.9% inflation in January. Rest assured if thats the Chinese published number, it has to be much higher.

Wall Street pay vs Teacher Pay

Very funny video, link from friend Paul Lomba.

The point being missed is the PRIVATE sector middle class has already been routed, and this is driving the debate by the public. I assume the start of momentum we have seen will result in significant change for public unions. But to what level is still debatable. I agree with Mish on his post, debate is a good thing, and status quo will not stand. Hopefully a complete decimation is not the result, but a sane middle ground is.
