Solar, Buy Low Sell High - 6 months later

In post on June 27th, 2012 titled "Solar, Buy low Sell High" I discussed the value play to buy FSLR (solar company) , TAN (Solar ETF) , and OIH (Oil ETF) purely based on they were beat up at that time.
Also called out FSLR as it started to move at 20.50

TAN was just under 18 a share, now at 18.96.
FSLR was at about 15, now 32
OIH was at about 33, now at 40.70

I did two posts today, both throwback looks on the non-gold miner stocks to buy.
See other called 'Social Media Stocks - Five Months later'

Charts below with red circles on the items.
For these stocks, a long term hold for years is not a bad idea.  A stop at just above your purchase price for the long haul hold.  Otherwise set stops at comfortable levels to lock in gains if they pull back.  Be sure to leave plenty of wiggle room.

Solar stock FSLR moving

Back on June 27th I posted "Solar, buy low, sell high".

Back then, FSLR was in the 15 dollar range.
Over the last few days FSLR has been moving at a pretty good clip.
Over the LONG haul, the ETF TAN (solar ETF) I still think is a no brainer.
And FSLR was at one time at 300 a share, so even at 21, maybe not expensive.
However, it would be nice to buy on a pullback, 14 to 21 is pretty big % in such a short time.

TAN hasn't recovered fully to the 27th price of 17.5

Solar, buy low sell high

We are likely about to enter a recognized recession, that may last months or years.
If years, buying anything right now in the market is not a great idea, markets can go much lower.

However, many industries are already slammed hard, like solar.
The ETF TAN reflects 25 solar companies, and FSLR has been brutalized.
For longer haul, if you think solar has a future, TAN is pretty cheap at 17.90 compared to 300.

And of course, I still love OIH (oil ETF) at this range.
Time to start nibbling OR we may have a deflationary collapse bringing all stocks much lower. (well worth the WATCH!)
But if we don't here is pretty cheap.

Don't forget my disclaimer!  I am throwing darts on a dartboard, any trading is up to you.
